These photos were taken at the Rio Largartos Reserve in Yucatan, Mexico. Up to 15,000 flamingos nest there each year on low sandbars. Rising water threatens the nests, and in 2001, more than 95% of the nests were destroyed by high water levels and the action of wind driven waves.
