Grand Canyon Journal, Page 18

An event, which I learned to eagerly anticipate, was that of the first morning light shining on the formations that dominated the landscape.  If I had to sum up the experience in one visual image, it would be like that of being a beetle which has fallen into a tall, dark mason jar.  The only way out is straight up!  And while at the bottom, I was wondering what was happening "out there"?   I painted this scene.
