Grand Canyon Journal, Page 2

The Canyon and the Colorado River meet at Lee's Ferry.  This is the place where those who raft the Grand Canyon put the boats and gear into the water. Then headed into the channel of the river, to float slowly over foaming rapids into the  heart of the canyon.  The smooth flow of the upper river  was soon met by the fast turquoise water of the Colorado river.  The undulating patterns of the turquoise water soon mixed with the silt laden water of the Paria Riffle tributary.  The swirls were of chocolate brown,  mixed with sky blue, set against the rust stained Kiabab formation lining the cliffs.
