Adornment with objects from our culture or environment is as essential to civilized people as it is to primitive people.  Each person chooses their own unique forms of expression from the elements available in the environment.  The similarities are sometimes as startling as the differences.  Birds and animals embellish themselves for attraction or to blend with their environment.  Modern dress appears to alienate and repulse but it still designed to display and communicate a ‘visual statement’ to those around to see.
